Inter Milan could look to Paris Saint-Germain’s Gianluigi Donnarumma (25) this summer, according to a report from the Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.
Di Marzio writes that the Serie A side are preparing for the future and looking for a successor to Yann Sommer who turned 36 last month and will enter the final year of his contract next season.
Despite, Donnarumma having made his professional debut for AC Milan after developing in the club’s academy, the goalkeeper is thought to share Inter’s interest and would not be against playing for his formative club’s fierce rivals.
There was little love lost from Milan fans when Donnarumma returned to the San Siro last season for PSG’s Champions League group game. The goalkeeper was showered in fake bills in protest at his departure on a free transfer.
Donnarumma’s time in the French capital has been successful on the domestic front, but in the Champions League, it has been characterised by numerous high-profile errors. These mistakes have even seen the Italian captain lose his place in Luis Enrique’s starting eleven on occasion this season.
