Christian Chivu paid a visit to the Inter HQ in recent days to put the finishing touches on his extension, which will be announced in a matter of days, and to go over the transfer market strategy after winning Serie A, La Gazzetta dello Sport informs.
The Scudetto-winning gaffer will have a year added to his deal, pushing the expiration date to 2028. His wages will grow from €2M to €3.2M per annum plus bonuses. While the Nerazzurri have never had any doubts, Milan keep seeking. They are coming off a lengthy meeting with Oliver Glasner, who could get the job regardless of Ralf Rangnick becoming their new apical director. He asked to hire Southampton’s Johannes Spors and Manchester United’s Christopher Vivell to round out the front office.
While several Serie A teams have found their next boss, just one has been formally announced: Domenico Tedesco at Bologna. His last stint at Fenerbahce wasn’t too convincing, while he had more success at Schalke 04, Spartak Moscow, and RB Leipzig. He also helmed Belgium for 24 games.
Sassuolo and Torino are both after Alberto Aquilani and Ignazio Abate, Alfredo Pedullà reports. The Neroverdi have also reached out to Lecce’s Eusebio Di Francesco. Those are the only remaining uncertainties, as Parma will stick with Carlos Cuesta.
We’ll see whether Milan have the stomach to hand over the team to a brand-new group of people, and with all that entails from a roster-construction standpoint. Tedesco at Bologna is in the same vein as their last few coaches. Parma’s weren’t great aesthetically but were rock-solid. Sassuolo don’t seem too eager to go with a rookie gaffer. There are still a couple of juicy names on the market if they want to combine more experience with a bold philosophy.
