On Tuesday, Marca reported Inter Miami are interested in signing 40-year-old Cabo Verde goalkeeper Vozinha before MLS resumes later this month. The Spanish outlet credited Polish network TVN for the tip.
Vozinha, legal name Josimar José Évora Dias, began his senior career in 2007 and has 94 caps since debuting in 2012. Explaining his nickname, he said, "It's because of my grandparents". That was in a FIFA.com feature.
On 15 June he made seven saves and won player of the match in a 0-0 draw with Spain. He then conceded two in a draw with Uruguay and kept a 0-0 against Saudi Arabia, the three points sending the Blue Sharks through to face Argentina as runners-up to Spain in the Round of 32.
Against Argentina, he produced eight saves, including from Messi, in a tie that was 2-2 after normal time before Argentina won 3-2 in extra time. He totalled 18 saves and five goals conceded across four matches. Afterwards, he said Messi told him, "You are great. Your people should be proud of you", according to Yahoo Sports.
A move appears unlikely given Miami’s goalkeeping depth. Dayne St. Clair starts, with fans' favourite Rocco Ríos Novo and Luis Barraza behind him. The defending MLS Cup champions still have three trophies to chase in 2026, so this looks like silly season, though surprises cannot be ruled out.
