Inter Miami reached a landmark at the weekend, fielding seven academy products in a first team match for the first time in club history against Charlotte.
According to Inter Miami, Noah Allen, Ian Fray, David Ruiz, Santiago Morales and Daniel Pinter all started, the first time five academy products have begun a match for the club. The line-up was also the third-youngest in the club’s history.
Inter Miami II players Alexander Shaw and Cesar Abadia-Reda came on in the 68th minute to make their MLS debuts.
Allen signed in early 2022 as the fourth academy graduate and has helped win the 2023 Leagues Cup, 2024 Supporters’ Shield and 2025 MLS Cup. He has 113 appearances, the most among active players. Fray, the second academy graduate to sign ahead of 2021, has since debuted for Jamaica.
Ruiz joined the academy in 2021, progressed via Inter Miami II and signed in 2023 as the sixth graduate, amassing 72 appearances and contributing to all three major titles. Morales, from the inaugural class, later signed seventh and featured in the 2025 MLS Cup-winning squad.
Pinter rose through the ranks after joining in 2019 as an U-13 and has earned promotion to the first team. Shaw ranks as the club’s third-youngest debutant. Abadia-Reda joined in 2021-22, debuted professionally in March 2023, has 61 Inter Miami II appearances with two goals and one assist, and stepped up on a short-term first team deal.
