Carlos Augusto was full of praise for his Inter Milan teammates after the Nerazzurri bounced back from Champions League elimination with a convincing 2-0 victory over Genoa at San Siro, singling out Federico Dimarco and Hakan Calhanoglu for particular credit.

Speaking to SportMediaset, via FCInterNews, the Brazil defender described the win as a significant statement of collective resilience.

“We knew it was a difficult match, it was a great victory for the league but also for the group after the defeat in the Champions League,” he said.

“We showed the strength of the group and that we can come through these situations.”

On the dressing room response after the Bodo exit, Augusto was measured.

“It is not simple or pleasant to lose and go out like that,” he admitted.

“But we have already shown many times how to come out of these situations. There are players with experience who have lived through similar moments. It was a great victory for the morale of the group.”

Asked specifically about Dimarco and Calhanoglu, Augusto was effusive.

“Dimarco is having a great season and I am happy for Calhanoglu’s return,” he said.

“Denzel is also back in the group. The Inter victory is the most important thing, but when teammates are doing well it helps everyone. We are doing great things.”

On the upcoming Coppa Italia semi-final against Como, Augusto was respectful.

“They are having a great season and fighting for the Champions League places. We need to do what we know how to do.”

The derby, he insisted, could wait.
