Speaking to Sport Mediaset via FCInterNews, the 45-year-old discussed Inter’s astonishing comeback at San Siro.

Though it looked like Inter would bow out in the Coppa Italia semi-finals, the Nerazzurri demonstrated their fighting spirit once again.

Despite missing the likes of Alessandro Bastoni and Lautaro Martinez, Chivu’s side fought back from a 2-0 deficit to secure a 3-2 win.

Indeed, Hakan Calhanoglu inspired an epic turnaround with a second-half brace, including his first header in Italian football.

Furthermore, the 32-year-old set up his midfield colleague Petar Sucic for the 89th-minute winner.

As a result, the Nerazzurri will face either Atalanta or Lazio in a title-deciding fixture next month.

Meanwhile, Cristian Chivu could follow in the footsteps of Jose Mourinho, who was the last Inter manager to win a domestic double.

The ‘Special One’ achieved this historic feat in 2010 as part of an unprecedented treble-winning campaign.

Cristian Chivu Hails Inter Milan After Remarkable Comeback vs Como

“There’s a group that has been working very well since the start of the season, and when they’re called upon, they show it,” Chivu said. “Some more, some less, depending on the day.

“Those who came on gave us a huge hand; Sucic, Diouf and Pio Esposito were decisive. It’s this group’s incredible desire to make the difference until the very end.

“We’ve put ourselves in this position through hard work – a situation that allows us to dream and to achieve our objectives in the league and the Coppa Italia.”

Then, he discussed Inter’s second come-from-behind triumph over Como in less than two weeks.

“We were aware of what Como are doing,” Chivu added. “We scored many goals against the best defense because these players have Inter DNA.

“Coming back against Como twice in ten days is something only the ‘crazy Inter’ can do.”

Furthermore, he explained his decision to bench starting wingback Denzel Dumfries in favor of underperforming Luis Henrique.

“Denzel still has a physical issue, he made himself available at the last moment. He has a tendon problem, but given the situation, he stepped up.

“It’s great to have players who understand the moment and feel the responsibility of what it means to play for this team. They want to carry forward the club’s work.

“Today, Diouf came on very well; he took on his man every time with personality. I’m happy with the players – they’ve kept alive the chance to reach the final and achieve one of our next objectives.”

Finally, he addressed recent comparisons with Mourinho.

“You like headlines, I don’t. I’m Cristian,” he was adamant. “I have responsibility for these wonderful players.

“Thanks to them, you make headlines, but that doesn’t interest me much. I want to give satisfaction to those who believed in me, and in these fantastic players.”
