Inter Milan second-string goalkeeper Josep Martinez excelled in last night’s Coppa Italia semi-final victory against Como.
According to Corriere dello Sport via FCInterNews, the Spaniard’s superb performance between the sticks helped the Nerazzurri turn the game on its head.
Cristian Chivu’s men were staring down the barrel of elimination after conceding two unanswered goals in the opening 50 minutes.
However, they managed to find a way back into the game, with Hakan Calhanoglu scoring a second-half brace to draw them level.
Furthermore, the 32-year-old teed up Petar Sucic for the 89th-minute winner, putting the icing on the cake.
Despite playing second fiddle to Yann Sommer in Serie A, Martinez has been Inter’s starting goalkeeper in the Coppa Italia this term.
Moreover, the former Genoa star produced a phenomenal display in goal to help the Nerazzurri reach the grand final.
Indeed, the 27-year-old came up huge to deny Assane Diao in a one-on-one situation immediately after Calhanoglu’s first goal.
