Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram inspired Serie A leaders Inter Milan to a stunning 5-2 home victory over Roma last night.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport via FCInterNews, Inter’s dynamic attacking duo went reigned supreme at San Siro.
Cristian Chivu was desperate to steer his side back on track after overseeing three consecutive league matches without a win before the international break.
Furthermore, Lautaro Martinez returned to the squad after a month-long injury layoff, handing the Nerazzurri a crucial boost ahead of Roma’s visit.
Indeed, El Toro’s recovery came just in time to help Inter end their longest winless run in Serie A since 2023.
Lautaro needed less than 60 seconds into his first league start since February to open the scoring.
Moreover, the Argentine striker netted another goal at the start of the second half to put clear daylight between the sides.
Meanwhile, Marcus Thuram ended his five-game scoring drought in Serie A with a towering header only three minutes after Lautaro’s second.
Additionally, the Frenchman registered two assists, setting up his attacking partner for both goals.
With both Lautaro and Thuram firing on all cylinders, Roma stood no chance at San Siro, as Inter moved nine points clear of second-placed AC Milan.
