Inter Milan star Marcus Thuram made an honest admission after returning to the scoresheet in last night’s victory over Roma.

Speaking to Sky Sport Italia via FCInterNews, the Frenchman reflected on his five-game scoring drought in Serie A.

It’s been a disappointing season for Marcus Thuram so far.

Unfortunately, a lack of form and recurring fitness problems have marred the 28-year-old, who has tallied just eight goals in 24 league appearances.

Moreover, Thuram’s last Serie A goal before yesterday’s header came in Inter’s 5-0 thrashing of Sassuolo at the beginning of February.

Indeed, the former Borussia Monchengladbach striker had since gone five league games without scoring, only to end his drought last night.

In addition to netting a towering header, Thuram set up Lautaro Martinez twice.

Therefore, he won the ‘Man of the Match’ award for arguably his best performance since the opening Serie A weekend.

However, with Inter aiming to clinch the Scudetto, Thuram couldn’t have picked a better moment to return to form.

“Winning like this in front of our fans at San Siro always boosts morale,” Thuram said after the game. “We have to keep going down this path.”

Then, he commented on his recent woes.

“It’s true that a striker has to score, the number 9 at Inter can’t go three months without finding the net,” he added. “I try to help the team however I can, but it’s true I had a dip in form, and I hope it never happens again.

“Going on international duty after the match in Florence was the best thing that could’ve happened, to clear my head a bit and come back more energized.”

Finally, he hailed his ‘special’ connection with Lautaro.

“Pio and Bonny are exceptional teammates too, but it’s true I have a special connection with Lauti. We’ve been playing together for three years, and playing with him feels like being at home.
