Inter Milan have admired Jones for some time. Their latest approach, a verbal offer worth €25m, was swiftly rejected because it fell well below Liverpool’s valuation. It followed an earlier attempt to negotiate a loan with an option to buy in January, another proposal that failed to make progress.

For Liverpool, the message has remained consistent. If a club wants Jones, it will have to pay a fee that reflects both his ability and experience.

Inter Milan Accept Difficult Reality

Inter Milan sporting director Piero Ausilio has now acknowledged that completing a deal looks increasingly unlikely under the current circumstances.

“I’ve never denied that we like Curtis Jones.

“He has the qualities that could give us something extra. But there’s a significant gap between our valuation and Liverpool’s.

“Liverpool have every right to ask for what they believe is a fair price, and we have every right to decide whether that works for us or not. As things stand, I’d say it’s very difficult.”

Those comments underline the current position. Inter appreciate the player, Liverpool value him highly, and neither side appears ready to compromise.

Growing Interest Across Premier League

Inter Milan are not the only club monitoring developments. Nottingham Forest have identified Jones as a potential midfield addition following Elliot Anderson’s departure, while Arsenal have also been credited with an interest.

Liverpool are understood to value the midfielder at around £40m, a figure that reflects both his age and his contribution since breaking into the first team. Unless that valuation is met, there is little urgency to complete a sale.

Although Jones is entering the final year of his contract and is reportedly open to considering a fresh challenge, Liverpool remain in control of negotiations.

Truth Behind Liverpool Decision

The numbers explain why Liverpool continue to stand firm. Jones has spent 16 years with the club after arriving at the academy in 2010. Since making his senior debut in 2019, he has played 228 times, scored 22 goals and collected eight major honours, including the Champions League and two Premier League titles.

Last season brought frustration after he started only 18 of Liverpool’s 34 Premier League matches, but that does not erase years of steady progress or diminish his value.

The Truth is straightforward. Liverpool are prepared to listen if their asking price is met, but they are equally comfortable keeping Curtis Jones. For Inter Milan, admiration remains strong, yet unless there is significant movement on valuation, a transfer looks set to remain out of reach.
