Manuel Akanji has set out Inter Milan’s end-of-season ambitions in clear terms, declaring the Nerazzurri want to win both the Scudetto and the Coppa Italia before the campaign draws to a close.

The Switzerland defender spoke to SportMediaset, via FCInterNews, after his latest international duty.

With Inter sitting six points clear at the top of Serie A heading into the Easter run-in, Akanji was clear.

“Obviously we want to win both remaining competitions,” Akanji said directly.

“We are first in Serie A with a six-point advantage, we want to stay there until the end of the season. The same goes for the cup. We have a home game against Como and we hope to win there too and win the title.”

On the psychological battle of the final weeks, Akanji was equally clear-eyed.

“We are focused only on ourselves,” he added.

“We do not look at our opponents, we are not afraid of anyone. So we need to win our matches and if that happens, we will be champions.”
