Inter Milan superstar Lautaro Martínez reveals contact with Julian Alvarez after Barcelona drama: ‘Hope he gets well soon’ | OneFootball

Lautaro Martinez has offered his support to Julian Alvarez after the Atletico Madrid forward’s failed move to Barcelona, admitting that the situation surrounding his Argentina teammate has been difficult.

Alvarez remained at Atletico despite Barcelona’s interest and the player’s desire to make the move to Catalonia. 

The Spanish transfer window eventually closed without an agreement being reached, leaving the 26-year-old to continue his career in Madrid.

Lautaro Martinez offers support

With the transfer saga still attracting attention, Lautaro was asked about his international teammate ahead of Inter Milan’s Champions League meeting with Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The Inter captain revealed that he had personally contacted Alvarez and made it clear that he was behind him during a complicated period.

“I spoke with him, sent him a message, and showed him my support. 

“Beyond the fact that we play the same position and compete for a spot on the national team, he’s a friend,” explained the Inter forward.

Lautaro admits Alvarez’s situation is difficult

Alvarez’s future became one of the major talking points of the transfer window after Barcelona’s interest emerged.

The Catalan club explored the possibility of bringing the striker to Spain, but Atletico’s position ultimately prevented the deal from progressing to a transfer.

For Alvarez, that left a complicated situation after he had wanted the opportunity to join Barcelona.

Lautaro acknowledged the difficulty of what his friend has experienced, while also making clear that the final decision was outside the player’s control.

“The situation he’s been through and is still going through isn’t easy, but the decision rests with his club and its president. 

“I wish him the best and hope he gets well soon and continues to prove what he’s shown so far—that he’s one of the best players in the world,” he concluded.
