Inter Milan strikers Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram are aiming to both score in the same match for the first time in months against Venezia.
Today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, note that the last match where both of the pair were on the scoresheet was against Frosinone last season.
Inter strikers Martinez and Thuram have been talismanic figures for Inter.
Captain Martinez has scored prolifically for Inter for much of the time he’s been at the club.
This season has seen the Argentine’s form in front of goal. However, strikes against the likes of Cagliari and AC Milan suggest he’s not far away from getting back to his best.
Meanwhile, Thuram’s form has hit another level this season in terms of his goalscoring.
The Frenchman is currently Inter’s top scorer. He is very much vying to finish the season as the top scorer for all of Serie A as well.
One thing that Martinez and Thuram have not done this season is score in the same match.
That is perhaps the result of the fact that the two strikers’ best periods of form have not overlapped.
Last season, both Inter strikers were prolific enough that they were able to do so.
As the Gazzetta notes, Martinez and Thuram both got on the scoresheet away to Venezia last campaign.
But that came in a 5-0 win against a team that faced relegation.
This season, the two Nerazzurri strikers haven’t managed it. Therefore, they’ll certainly see that as the goal tomorrow against Venezia.
