Inter Milan survived an almighty scare against Udinese, but will have to avoid more late switch-offs if they’re to defend their Serie A title.
This is the view in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.
Inter Milan will have thought that it was an easy day at the office for them at halftime against Udinese yesterday.
The Nerazzurri were 2-0 up and cruising. And the scoreline hardly flattered them.
On paper, Udinese were a tough match for Inter to face immediately upon their return from the international break.
The Friulani have frequently caused problems for the big teams in Serie A in the last few seasons. Including this time around.
But Inter simply looked too well-organized and technically precise to allow Udinese’s pressure to unsettle them.
Then, the second half happened.

Udinese came out at the start of the second half yesterday with very little to lose.
And that clearly showed in the visiting side’s performance.
Inter, on the other hand, looked a bit complacent. Already, they seemed intent on controlling the match and protecting their 2-0 advantage.
And Udinese punished Inter for that failure to score a third goal that would really kill off the match.
A screamer from Friulani defender Oumar Solet out of nowhere completely changed the dynamic of the match.
From then on, Inter had their backs to the wall. They relied on keeper Yann Sommer to prevent Udinese from equalizing, as the chances mounted in their penalty area.
