Luis Henrique has drawn on one of the most dramatic collapses in recent Brazilian football history to send a pointed message to his Inter Milan teammates, warning the Nerazzurri not to repeat the mistakes of his former club Botafogo in the final weeks of the season.

Speaking to Placar, the Brazilian wing-back recalled Botafogo’s stunning implosion in the 2023 Brasileirao, a season in which they dominated for months before collapsing in the final five games to finish fifth.

“It is an experience that stays with you,” he said, via FCInterNews.

“Here at Inter we find ourselves in a similar situation, with a points advantage and that feeling of ‘we must win, we cannot let it slip.’ So let’s not lose our heads like Botafogo did.”

Luis Henrique was candid about his own involvement in that chapter.

A contractual clause limited his minutes and triggered an automatic purchase, restricting his impact at a crucial time.

“I would have wanted to play even more,” he said, “but it was positive for me, I contributed well. Unfortunately people try to forget the first half of the season, which was very good.”

The experience taught him something he now carries into the most important stretch of Inter’s campaign.

The Nerazzurri hold their destiny in their own hands.

The lesson from Brazil is simple: keep the head, trust the process, and do not look over your shoulder.
