Real Madrid will most likely buy Nico Paz back for a meager sum in the summer, but it’s not certain already he’ll stay put next campaign, and Inter will shoot their shot to bring him back to Serie A, La Repubblica reports.
The Nerazzurri have been courting him and his entourage for a long time. Their vice-president, Javier Zanetti, is a close friend of his father Pablo. Les Merengues are widely expected to activate their €9M clause. On the other hand, they have plenty of options in his role, starting with Arda Guler, Brahim Diaz, and Franco Mastantuono.
Inter could get an assist from a familiar face in their Nico Paz chase. José Mourinho is currently the frontrunner to take over the dugout. If the next Real Madrid coach opts to rely on different players, the Argentine would be put on the market.
Even if that happened, acquiring him would still be a challenge. Per Mediaset, Tottenham tendered €70M late in the last summer window. Como and Real Madrid both turned it down. His price tag would be mammoth. Per La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Rossoblù haven’t given up either. Should they leapfrog Juventus and Roma and make the top four, their chances of reuniting with the starlet would drastically increase.
Considering how he evolved this campaign, he’s not far from being able to play as a box-to-box next to Hakan Calhanoglu, as Piotr Zielinski has done frequently. The tactical fit wouldn’t be an issue. On the other hand, they’ll have to be very patient and a bit lucky and rack up a ton of money from their excess players to be seriously in contention.
