Inter star Dimarco picks out Scudetto rivals and reveals key to fighting complacency | OneFootball

Federico Dimarco has insisted Inter will approach the new season with the same hunger that delivered last term’s Double, while identifying a crowded field of Scudetto challengers.

According to TuttoMercatoWeb, the left-back, who provided 18 assists and was named Serie A MVP last season, is refusing to let the weight of expectation change his approach.

“I always try to do my bit and give the team a big hand. My way of training hasn’t changed, not after the Champions League disappointment nor after last year’s Double,” Dimarco said. “Sometimes results come more, sometimes a little less, but to have a clear conscience you must always give 100%. That’s the basis for continuing to grow day by day.”

Dimarco names Inter, Milan, Napoli, Juventus, Roma and Atalanta as rivals

With two trophies in the bank, Dimarco was clear about the danger of complacency and how to guard against it.

“You fight it by training well, with desire and enthusiasm, following the coach’s demands and, above all, keeping the hunger to win,” he said. “That’s the most important thing: if you’re hungry to win, you already start a step ahead.”

As for the title race itself, the Italy international sees a competitive division and even flagged a possible edge for those outside Europe.

“I see this Inter as in other years: a team that sets out to fight to win the Scudetto. We’ve never hidden from that, even when we didn’t manage it in the past,” he said.

“I think all the teams start at the same level, though those not playing in the Champions League may have a small advantage, because that competition takes away a lot of energy. The main rivals will be Inter, Milan, Napoli, Juventus, Roma and Atalanta. Como are strengthening too. There are many teams that can have their say across the whole season.”
