Benfica have been handed a concern in the international break, with right-back Amar Dedic sitting out Bosnia and Herzegovina training on Tuesday after a light knock, according to SportsSport. He had trained in the first session on Monday.

The same report said head coach Sergej Barbarez still counts on the defender for Thursday’s play-off semi-final away to Wales for the 2026 World Cup, so the issue is not viewed as serious.

Barbarez had welcomed the 23-year-old’s weekend rest against Vitória de Guimarães, noting he prefers players, especially those in European competitions, not to feature immediately before international duty because up to five matches between call-up and camp can disrupt planning.

Dedic has returned to the Balkans after missing the final Group H qualifier against Austria on 18 November through suspension.

If Bosnia win in Wales on 26 March, they will host Italy or Northern Ireland for a place at the 2026 World Cup.

For Benfica this season, Dedic has made 37 competitive appearances, 18 in Liga Portugal Betclic, 14 in the Champions League, three in the Taça de Portugal, one in the Taça da Liga and one in the Supertaça. Across 3,097 minutes, he has one goal and three assists.
