The Bayern professionals are in action around the globe – with mixed results. Nicolas Jackson is causing jubilation for Senegal, while Minjae Kim has a bitter evening. There were also mixed performances from other national team players.
Nicolas Jackson put Senegal on the road to victory in the test match against Peru. The attacker scored shortly before the break to lay the foundation for the 2:0 victory. But the team was not only the focus of attention in sporting terms.
Before kick-off, Senegal demonstratively presented the revoked Africa Cup trophy at the Stade de France. The team had previously been stripped of the title after the final was awarded against them due to the match being abandoned. The association publicly opposed the CAF’s decision. President Abdoulaye Fall spoke of an „administrative robbery, the worst in the history of our sport“ and emphasised: „Senegal refuses to take this for granted.“
On the pitch, the team remained unimpressed, with Jackson scoring in the 41st minute to take the lead and Ismaila Sarr adding to his tally after the break. It was the first game since the controversial Africa Cup final in January.
The legal process continues in parallel, with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) set to rule on the appeal. Director General Matthieu Reeb said: „We understand that teams and fans are eagerly awaiting the final decision and we will ensure that the arbitration process is conducted as expeditiously as possible, while respecting the right of all parties to a fair trial.“
Bayern players were also in action away from Jackson. Hiroki Ito came on in Japan’s 1-0 win over Scotland and was part of a solid defensive display, with Junya Ito scoring the decisive goal late in the game.

For Minjae Kim, the international break was much more sobering. The centre-back played in South Korea’s 4-0 defeat to Côte d’Ivoire, but was unable to prevent a clear defeat. The Africans took their chances consistently and made the decisive impact early on.
Other Bayern players were also called upon internationally. Dayot Upamecano was red-carded in France’s 2-1 win over Brazil and had to leave the pitch early. Michael Olise, on the other hand, impressed in the same game with a strong performance in attacking midfield.
Several Munich players were in action for the German national team in their 4-3 win over Switzerland. Jonathan Tah scored to make it 1-1, Serge Gnabry also scored. Joshua Kimmich played at right back, while Leon Goretzka had an inconsistent game. Youngster Lennart Karl celebrated a strong debut.
In the head-to-head clash between Colombia and Croatia (1-2), Luis Díaz started, while Josip Stanišić only came on as a second-half substitute. Both were able to make their mark without having a decisive influence on the game.
Tom Bischof also got some game time at youth level, captaining Germany U21 to a 3-0 win over Northern Ireland.
