Simone Inzaghi has confirmed that goalkeeper Yann Sommer will be in the starting eleven for tomorrow’s Champions League clash between Inter Milan and Feyenoord.

The Nerazzurri coach spoke to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews, ahead of tomorrow’s round of sixteen clash.

Goalkeeper Yann Sommer has been on the sidelines for Inter Milan’s last few matches.

The 36-year-old former Bayern Munich keeper suffered a thumb fracture in training last month. He underwent surgery to correct the problem.

While Sommer has been recovering, Josep Martinez has gotten a run in the Inter starting eleven.

The Spaniard has started against the likes of Genoa, Napoli, and Monza in Serie A. He has also started against Lazio in the Coppa Italia, and the first leg of a Champions League tie against Feyenoord.

However, Sommer is back. The Swiss was on the bench for this weekend’s Serie a match against Monza, although Martinez started that match.

But Sommer is fully fit. And Inzaghi has confirmed that he’s ready to start Inter’s next match.

Inzaghi Confirms Yann Sommer To Start For Inter Milan Vs Feyenoord

Inter coach Simone Inzaghi made clear that against Feyenoord, “Sommer will be back.”

“Martinez has done very well,” he continued. “I’m very happy with him.”

“But now I can choose in that position,” Inzaghi said. “Sommer will start tomorrow.”

Meanwhile, Inzaghi said that he will “evaluate” the fitness of Lautaro Martinez for tomorrow’s match, and the possibility of Mehdi Taremi starting.

“Correa isn’t on the Champions League squad list,” the Inter coach noted.

“But the other four strikers are there.”

“Today, we had de Vrij and Lautaro train on their own in the gym as a precaution,” Inzaghi explained. “Tomorrow they’ll train with the team and we’ll see whether they’re available.”

And Inzaghi also denied that he’s going to be preoccupied with next weekend’s Serie A match against Atalanta when deciding on the team tomorrow.

“We’ll think about the league starting on Wednesday,” the Inter coach said. “Now we’re focused on the Champions League.”

Inzaghi noted that “We’re playing a lot of matches.”

“We have some players out. But last season when we won against Salzburg we were already in the round of sixteen, and this season we had to wait until the match against Monaco.”

“In those two months we also had to prepare for all those matches,” noted the Nerazzurri coach.
