Ion Gómez, Real Sociedad B nutritionist, dies aged 31 | OneFootball

Ion Gómez, Real Sociedad B’s nutritionist last season, died on Thursday after a long illness, aged 31. He had been with the club since 2020 and was widely liked.

The club said in a statement that colleagues feel deep sorrow at his death and offered condolences to his family and loved ones.

Gómez joined Real Sociedad’s academy nutrition department in 2020, then stepped up to Sanse last year in Segunda.

In December, after Sergio Francisco’s dismissal and with Jon Ansotegi in charge, Take Kubo dedicated a goal against Levante, revealing a shirt that read "Eutsi Iongo".

Sanse players also took to the pitch in shirts backing him, bearing the message "Zurekin gaude".

Following his death, Real Sociedad teams will wear black armbands in his honour.
