Lille OSC’s Mohamed Bayo (26), a target for Premier League side Ipswich, is set to join Belgian side Royal Antwerp, according to a report from Foot Mercato.
Bayo has found gametime extremely different to come by this season. He has been pigeonholed as the No.2 option at Lille. He is behind the immovable Jonathan David in the pecking order. The Canadian looks very likely to leave Les Dogues in the summer on a free transfer with his current deal expiring, however, Bayo is expected to depart first.
Despite starting in Lille’s big 6-1 win over Feyenoord on Wednesday, a departure now seems imminent. L’Équipe reported earlier on Thursday that Ipswich and Besiktas were interested in the centre-forward, however, he is now set to move to Belgium. As per Foot Mercato, he is nearing a loan move to Royal Antwerp. The Belgian side are looking to complete his transfer ahead of the match against Club Brugge this weekend.
