Ipswich Town already have one eye on potential summer signings as they target promotion to the Premier League
Ipswich Town are still hoping to secure automatic promotion to the Premier League this season as the final games draw close.
The Tractor Boys earned promotion with a second-place finish in 2024, but a 19th place finish in the top flight sent them straight back down to the Championship last year.
Kieran McKenna’s side are in the mix for another second place result, but face competition from the likes of Millwall, Southampton and Middlesbrough.
The Suffolk outfit have their sights set on establishing themselves in the Premier League long-term.
Work will already be underway for what changes can be made to the first team squad this summer to help achieve that goal, regardless of what division they’ll be competing in next season.
Ipswich can also rely on the play-offs to earn promotion, with their place inside the top six already secure with four games still to play.

It has been reported by Spanish outlet Diário de Notícias, relayed by Sport Witness, that Ipswich have sent scouts to watch Flavien Enzo Boyomo ahead of the summer transfer window.
It’s believed that various Premier League clubs were in attendance for Osasuna’s 1-0 defeat to Athletic Bilbao last weekend, as well as the Tractor Boys.
The defender is attracting a lot of interest, and it’s understood he has a €25 (£21.7) million release clause in his contract.
Ipswich are reportedly interested in the 24-year-old provided they can earn promotion to the top flight in the coming weeks.
Osasuna are reluctant to let the centre-back depart, indicating the full release clause amount may need to be paid in order to earn his signature this summer.
But it remains to be seen whether the Championship side would be willing to meet that figure in the event of their promotion.
Boyomo is in his second campaign with Osasuna, and he’s made a total of 58 appearances in La Liga in that time.
The Cameroon international helped the team finish ninth in the table last season, and the Spanish side are currently 10th in the table with six games still to play, with European qualification on the line.
Meanwhile, Ipswich are back in action this evening in a 7.45pm kick-off with a trip to the Valley to face Charlton Athletic, where a win will take McKenna’s side into second in the table.

Ipswich have to already have one eye on potential transfer business for life in the Premier League, otherwise they risk being on the backfoot when the market opens.
While they still have to earn their place in the division, the club are better off working with two plans in mind for the top flight and for the Championship.
Boyomo has already earned a lot of top flight experience in his career, and he’s valued quite highly at Osasuna, so this could be a strong addition to the team.
Ipswich know from their single campaign in the Premier League that the quality of the squad needs to improve, and this could be the kind of signing that raises the standard of the backline.
