Ireland will give World Cup host nation Canada one final test before the start of the tournament as the two sides clash in a friendly.

Heimir Hallgrímsson’s side suffered play-off heartbreak at the hands of Czech Republic, with their dreams of a first World Cup finals in 24 years shattered in a semi-final penalties defeat.

Ireland have since won back-to-back outings against Grenada and Qatar after playing out a goalless stalemate with North Macedonia back in March, which pitted two play-off losers against each other.

Canada, meanwhile, got their World Cup preparations off to a good start on Tuesday when they beat tournament debutants Uzbekistan.

Ireland’s friendly with Canada kicks off at 12:30am BST on Saturday 6 June at Saputo Stadium in Montreal.
