Simone Inzaghi could be suffering the consequences of a long-term lack of transfer market investment from Inter Milan.
This is the view in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Il Giornale, via FCInter1908.
It was natural for Inter coach Inzaghi to face some criticism after this week’s Serie A draw with Bologna.
The Nerazzurri were overrun at times by the Rossoblu. And that came down at least partly to the tactical side of the match.
But there was also the matter of the players that Inter coach Inzaghi had available.
And in the view of Il GIornale, Inter have not equipped their coach all that well in terms of deptjh.
The Inter coach turned to players like Kristjan Asllani, Piotr Zielinski, and Mehdi Taremi on Wednesday.
That is one relatively cheap young signing and two players who came in on free transfers.
And none of that trio really shone. They raised doubts about whether they are suitable to really fill in the gaps when players from the starting eleven are unavailable.
And in the view of Il Giornale. that comes down to Inter’s work in the transfer market.
The Nerazzurri have certainly assembled a large and, at least, superficially deep squad for Inzaghi.
But the club have rarely shown great ambition. At times, they’ve had little choice due to financial circumstances.
But this summer, that was supposed to change with Oaktree Capital coming in.
However, the arrivals of Josep Martinez and Tomas Palacios did not exactly represent the big ambitious signings that would take Inter’s squad depth to the next level.
