Arsenal look to continue their quest for silverware this season as they travel to the south coast for an FA Cup quarter-final tie against Championship side Southampton.

The Premier League leaders are still hurting after a 2-0 defeat to Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final last month but they have a firm lead in the top-flight and are well placed in the Champions League knockout rounds as they seek to add trophies to the cabinet in 2026.

Their FA Cup run has been without issue so far as Mikel Arteta’s men have seen off lower league opposition in Portsmouth, Wigan Athletic and Mansfield Town with Southampton being their toughest challenge to date.

The Saints sit sixth in the second division and are unbeaten in 14 matches including the previous round of this competition when they defeated Premier League side Fulham 1-0 thanks to Ross Stewart’s stoppage time penalty.

When is Southampton v Arsenal?

The match will be shown live on TNT Sports 1 and HBO Max, the new streaming home for the broadcaster - which has replaced Discovery+. Coverage begins at 7.30pm on TNT Sports.

What is the Southampton team news?

Forward Leo Scienza has had a groin issue but could return in a boost to Tonda Eckert’s side, as could defender Welington who has been nursing a muscular problem but should be available for selection.

Jay Robinson is a doubt due to a quad injury but his inclusion would not be a surprise but Mads Roerslev is out for the rest of the season with a serious Achilles injury.

What is the Arsenal team news?

Mikel Arteta withdrew 10 players from international duty as worries over possible injuries grew following Noni Madueke’s knock whilst playing for England. His knee problem is said to be a minor one but he will not feature in this game.

Mikel Merino is out for the rest of the season with an ankle injury and it looks likely that Eberechi Eze will not feature as he was ruled out of action before the international break.

Martin Odegaard, William Saliba, Gabriel and Leandro Trossard are also doubts due to minor niggles while Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka were withdrawn from the England squad due to small injury issues as well.
