Isaac Schmidt is close to a permanent Leeds United exit, with a deal progressing. According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, the 26-year-old is due to leave two years after arriving from FC St Gallen.

Signed as a full-back, he did not convince Daniel Farke and was used late on further forward. In the title-winning Championship campaign he made 12 substitute appearances totalling 71 minutes, with his only two starts in the FA Cup.

Last season's loan to Werder Bremen brought 19 league outings, six starts. The once-capped Swiss covered both full-back roles and both wings, but it was not made permanent. A move to Young Boys is now in the works.

Schmidt's exit would continue a summer of change, with Illan Meslier and Karl Darlow already departing for Arsenal and Manchester United at the end of their deals.

Lucas Perri is not currently allowed to move. The Brazilian reported for pre-season testing at Leeds Beckett this week and will train at Thorp Arch. He is Leeds' only senior keeper with top-flight minutes last season, so a loan is off the table for now, though arrivals could change that. He has been linked with Torino, and he lost his place after two high-profile mistakes that Farke criticised.

Leeds are waiting on Southampton's Shea Charles and are interested in Sassuolo centre-back Tarik Muharemović. He is viewed as an ideal replacement for Pascal Struijk after his move to Brighton and it could take a club-record fee.
