The Senegalese forward has been ruled out of Crystal Palace’s next two Premier League fixtures
Oliver Glasner has confirmed that Ismaila Sarr suffered ankle ligament damage during Crystal Palace’s 2-1 defeat to Manchester United.
Sarr was replaced in the 38th minute following a heavy challenge from Diogo Dalot, and was seen leaving Selhurst Park on crutches.
Glasner said at full-time that he did not know whether Sarr would play again for Palace in 2025, and he confirmed the supporters’ worst fears ahead of the side’s trip to Burnley on Wednesday evening.
"Ismaïla Sarr is out for this game," Glasner said at the pre-match press conference on Tuesday afternoon. "Honestly, it doesn't look too bad, but he will definitely miss both games this week.
"There are some issues with his ankle ligaments. They are not completely torn, but there are some issues with the ankle very swollen.
"But we are still hopeful, and I know our medical department, how hard they are working.”
Sarr is set to leave for the Africa Cup of Nations in the coming weeks, and Glasner said he could be a doubt for the tournament, which starts for Senegal on Tuesday, December 23.
Glasner added: "We have hope that he could return before AFCON, but we have to do further assessments and of course have to see how the next days are going for him.”

Palace, who play eight games over the course of December, will have to manage without their top goalscorer in all competitions.
Sarr has been a consistent source of goals for Palace this season, and with Glasner’s side struggling to put the ball in the back of the net, the 27-year-old’s absence will be sorely felt.
“ We missed [the chance] to strengthen the depth of the squad in summer and we knew the schedule, we knew that Ismaila would go to the AFCON,” Glasner said after the loss to Man Utd.
“Nothing happened, surprisingly.
“When you play European football for the first time in your history, let's invest instead of save. We saved and that's what we are facing.
“But these players, this group of players, giving everything, so no blame for the players because they are leaving their heart on the pitch.”
