Lennart Karl is deeply disappointed. Just a few hours after the official confirmation of his withdrawal from the World Cup, the talented Bayern player has spoken out for the first time. The 18-year-old addresses the fans and his team-mates with emotional words
Lennart Karl’s dream of playing in the 2026 World Cup has been shattered before the tournament has even begun. The FC Bayern attacking player tore a muscle bundle in his left thigh during the German national team’s final training session and will be out for the next few weeks
The diagnosis not only hit the DFB and FC Bayern hard, but above all the player himself. On Friday afternoon, Karl took to Instagram for the first time after the shock news and gave a deep insight into his emotional world
„I don’t even know where to start, but it just hurts indescribably to have to miss the biggest tournament. I did everything I could to be fit for the World Cup. Unfortunately, injuries often come at the most unfortunate time,“ the 18-year-old wrote
The words show just how disappointed the Bayern professional is, as Karl had developed into one of the biggest winners under national coach Julian Nagelsmann in recent months and had justified hopes of playing an important role at the World Cup

Despite the bitter setback, the youngster is not focusing exclusively on himself. In his message to the fans, Karl made it clear that he will continue to fully support the German national team during the tournament
„I wish my team maximum success and will of course support them every minute!“ the attacking player explained
This attitude is also likely to be welcomed within the DFB camp, where Karl has not only been a great source of hope in recent months, but has also impressed with his professional attitude and team spirit
The injury is particularly bitter because the Bayern star had recently impressively recommended himself for a regular place. After strong performances in the World Cup test matches, he was even expected to be in the starting eleven for the tournament opener
In addition to his support for the national team, Karl also sent a clear message to his fans. Despite the current disappointment, the youngster is already thinking about his return
„Come back stronger, I promise,“ wrote the 18-year-old, sending a clear signal for the time after his injury
At the same time, he thanked everyone for the great support he has received since the diagnosis became known. „Thank you for the strong messages. Good luck, added Karl
For the moment, Karl will remain a spectator, but his message makes it clear that the Bayern youngster is already working on his next comeback.
