Italian journalist Fabrizio Biasin has weighed in on the future of Inter Milan star Alessandro Bastoni amid Barcelona’s interest.
According to Biasin via FCInter1908, only a mind-blowing offer would convince the Nerazzurri to sell their long-serving stalwart.
Barcelona are keen to make Alessandro Bastoni their marquee summer signing.
Indeed, Hansi Flick is desperate to reinforce his defensive options, with Bastoni emerging as the club’s top target.
Given his physical attributes, technical skills, and athleticism, the 26-year-old would be a perfect fit for Flick’s system.
However, Inter are reluctant to discuss the Italian center-back’s sale despite his recent woes.
Furthermore, the former Atalanta man is reportedly keen to stay at San Siro and sign a new long-term contract with the Nerazzurri.
On that basis, Bastoni’s summer exit doesn’t look likely, though a stratospheric offer could change Inter’s mind.
Still, it would take at least €70 million to even bring the Nerazzurri to the negotiating table.
“The situation is very clear,” Biasin stated. “Barcelona has shown obvious interest; they have spoken with his entourage, and the entourage hasn’t shut down the conversation. In the past, both Barcelona and Real Madrid had made approaches, and back then, the agents closed the door; this time, they are listening.
“But we’re stuck there. For Inter to decide to let go of such an important player, two things would need to happen at the same time: the player would have to come forward and say he has decided to seek a new experience, which hasn’t happened so far and may not happen. He has not expressed any desire to leave.
“And then Barcelona would have to make an outrageous offer for him: if it’s a generous but reasonable offer, Inter would struggle to let him go because they would then have to replace him. I don’t think Barcelona could afford this type of offer.
“They surprise us every year, but I don’t think this is likely, and I don’t believe he is focused on leaving at all costs. That’s what people say, but I don’t think it’s the case.”
