Roberto Mancini wasn’t shy about trusting youngsters in his first spell on the Italy bench, and he’ll do it again in his return. In that sense, the first Serie A rounds have given him more than a few ideas, La Gazzetta dello Sport reports.

Alphadjo Cissé has been a revelation for Milan, scoring two goals in three games. He had shown flashes at Catanzaro last year, but his season was cut short by a serious thigh injury. Ruben Amorim noticed him in training and decided not only to keep him in the squad but also to give him plenty of minutes. Frosinone’s Antonio Raimondo and Parma’s Simone Lontani have also turned heads in the early going.

Mancini needs FIFA approval for nationality changes in a couple of instances. Nicolò Tresoldi and Alessandro Romano have played with Germany and Switzerland at the youth level. They have both accepted the call-up and to switch allegiances. The latter has been a day-one starter for Cagliari after joining from Roma.

The Azzurri gaffer flew to Lisbon to watch Issa Doumbia in person. He transferred to Sporting CP for €25M after helping Venezia return to Serie A. Mohamed Alì Zoma is also among the players abroad who have been notified of a possible selection.

The injuries are already piling up, but a few interesting talents who haven’t necessarily gone through all the youth sides, have quickly emerged. He needs a lot of goodwill and immediate results to make up for his previous errors, and helping create new stars would go a long way. However, he’ll have to balance that with experience, as the games will matter from the get-go.
