Italy bounce back with convincing win over Turkey | OneFootball

Italy responded to their defeat by Belgium with a convincing 4-1 victory over Turkey, giving Roberto Mancini his first win since returning as Azzurri manager.

The visitors made a flying start in Bursa and opened the scoring after nine minutes. A corner caused confusion in the Turkish defence, allowing Alessandro Bastoni to fire into the roof of the net.

Italy continued to dominate and soon added two more. Davide Frattesi followed up after Michael Kayode’s effort was saved, before Kayode found the net himself on his international debut following a neat move involving Pio Esposito.

Turkey pulled one back shortly after half-time when Barıs Alper Yılmaz finished from Oguz Aydin’s cross, but Italy quickly restored their three-goal cushion. Sandro Tonali struck the post and Pio Esposito headed in the rebound.

The hosts improved as the game progressed, with Arda Guler and Kerem Aktürkoğlu missing late chances, while another Yilmaz effort was ruled out for offside.

The result keeps Italy unbeaten against Turkey after 14 meetings and leaves them on three points in Nations League Group A1.
