After their 2-0 quarter-final defeat at the hands of Bayern Munich this evening, a frustrated Ole Werner felt his side deserved a penalty.

The RB Leipzig coach referred to a clash on the edge of the box between Antonio Nusa and Josip Stanišić in the 27th-minute.

Nusa, looking to dribble towards goal, seemed to tangle legs with the Bayern defender but referee Daniel Siebert waved play on.

“It's absolutely insane that not even a foul was called. For me it was a penalty. The contact was on the [18-yard-box] line.

“You need certain decisions to go your way to have a chance here, we didn't have these moments today - it was a deserved win for Bayern,” a livid Werner ultimately confessed.

Regardless of the loss and their Pokal aspirations fading with it, the Leipzig gaffer remained upbeat about his team's efforts.

"I told the team afterwards that they can leave the pitch with their heads held high, based on their performance.

"There were minor things that didn't go our way, such as a couple of the referee's decisions. Bayern deserved to win, as they made the most of the chances they had.

“We should have been more clinical with ours. We could have really benefitted from taking the lead ourselves,” he explained.
