Chloe Kelly says she is feeling back to her best after scoring in Arsenal’s 3-1 Champions League quarter-final first-leg win over rivals Chelsea.

It has been a tough season for Kelly due to injury but now she says she is feeling back to her old self.

“I think at the start of the season there were some frustrations for me with injury, but now I feel back, I feel confident and I’m building momentum,” she said.

“Renee puts trust in me and I want to repay that trust. She’s an amazing manager who I love learning from so I feel in a good place right now and I can keep getting better, keep learning and keep building.

“I think when I’m playing with a smile on my face, when I feel this way, I feel in a good place so hopefully I can keep building on that and I’m really happy to represent this club, so I feel good.

“Sometimes it clicks for you and sometimes you have to ride those storms but I’m playing with such talented players around me it makes it much easier.”

Kelly, however, says there is still plenty of work to be done if Arsenal are to progress to the semi-finals.

“It’s only half time though and we’ve got a lot of experience last season in the Champions League knowing that half time in these matches, two goals doesn’t mean anything,” she stressed.

“It means that we keep pushing for more.”

Asked about Arsenal’s desire to defend their Champions League title, she responded: “It’s in our history.”
