The final stretch of the season is now here, and FC Barcelona are closer than ever to the finish line. Still alive in all three major competitions, La Blaugrana are hoping to fight for everything in their way. Thanks to Hansi Flick, Barcelona now finally looks like a major European contender again.

However, that does not mean that any of the upcoming games will be easy. In a way, all of those matches are essentially to be treated as finals for Barcelona if they truly intend to make a run for every single title possible. To do that, however, they need to take things one step at a time as well.

Despite dropping points against Real Betis in their latest game, Barça remain four points clear at the top of the La Liga table. However, that game is now behind them and the team must turn their attention towards another competition for now.

Up next for the Catalan giants is a game against Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA Champions League. Both teams will be looking for the win, but only one team will come out of this tie as the winner. The German side, despite struggling this season in the Bundesliga, is undoubtedly a major threat in the Champions League.

Ahead of the game itself, as highlighted by SPORT, Borussia Dortmund coach Niko Kovac spoke about Barcelona and particularly commended the team’s offensive play and just how dangerous he thinks it is:

“Right now, Barça’s offensive play is NonPlusUltra, it’s the best. It makes things very, very difficult.”

He also spoke about Hansi Flick and how he is glad that his fellow German coach is doing well at Barcelona:

“I’m happy to see Hansi. I remember him from the time in Salzburg when I was still a player. He was one of the assistant coaches for a few months. Then we met again at Bayern, where Toni Tapalovic was also an assistant.”

Moreover, he spoke about the history that both the coaches have with each other and how they both still remain in touch since their days of working together:

“We have a relationship. I’m happy, and we often call each other to exchange thoughts and ideas, not only on birthdays but at other times too. I’m happy when I see the other person succeed. That’s a good thing.”

For both teams, a win in the first leg at the Montjuic Stadium could be a massive boost. As such, it is expected that both sides will come looking for the win, and neither Barcelona nor Borussia Dortmund will be okay with going down without a fight. Unfortunately for Kovac, however, he will be missing a few key players in the first leg of this quarter-final tie.
