Franjo Ivanovic came off the bench to settle Benfica's meeting with Moreirense, scoring twice to secure victory and mark a personal first for the club.
O Jogo reports it was his first Benfica brace. He needed only three minutes to score both goals.
Usually a José Mourinho substitute, the 22-year-old thrust himself back into the spotlight with that contribution. The display also reignited debate over Vangelis Pavlidis's starting role. The Greek went another game without a goal.
Mourinho noted the Croatian's development.
Ivanovic has become the league's most prolific impact substitute this season, with four goals in 16 appearances off the bench in Liga Portugal Betclic.
Across the campaign he has featured in 40 competitive matches, 23 in the league, 11 in the Champions League, four in the Taça de Portugal and two in the Taça da Liga. In 1,291 minutes for Benfica he has eight goals and two assists, and is valued at €18 million.
