After spending four years at the Etihad Stadium, Jack Grealish made a move to Liverpool in the summer of 2025 with Everton signing the Englishman on loan.

Now 30-years-old, the former Aston Villa captain seems to have reached the end of his Manchester City career despite still being an Etihad Stadium employee, as club officials seek out a solution to his uncertain future.

Entering his final year of contract with Manchester City, Grealish will reportedly earn £500,000 a week when factoring in loyalty bonuses and add-ons, while those at the club have committed to paying more than half of his salary to ensure he can get game time elsewhere.

With his salary expected to cause problems for any club eyeing a permanent deal for Grealish during the upcoming summer, City may continue to pay a portion of Grealish’s salary to sanction a second consecutive loan deal.

According to a new report from TEAMtalk, a permanent sale is ‘almost impossible’ for Jack Grealish and Manchester City as finding a suitor who can pay a base salary of £300,000 per week proves to be a tall order.

With Grealish already at the Hill Dickinson Stadium – albeit having his campaign ended through a fractured foot and subsequent surgery – the Liverpool club are understood to be keen on retaining the player for the next campaign.

Despite the Toffees having an option to buy Jack Grealish permanently, in a deal worth £50 million, a loan agreement is the most plausible option as a result of the aforementioned economic demands of a move and the transfer fee mentioned.

Starting 18 times for Everton this season, Jack Grealish managed to score twice while providing six assists in the Premier League prior to his injury setback, showcasing the sort of form that made him integral to Manchester City’s Treble-winning season of 2022/23.

The England international outperformed his expected assists (xA) of 3.57, while being in the top 98.3 percentile of left wingers by assists. However, all is not sunshine and rainbows for the Toffees as they are expected to not be the only competitors for the player’s signature.

Despite having an upper hand, Manchester City are still expected to put Jack Grealish on the transfer market for a permanent agreement beyond the end of the current season. But given the player’s success on Merseyside, he could yet push for a return to Sean Dyche’s squad.
