Leeds United are interested in signing a Luton Town star who is out of favour with Hatters boss Jack Wilshere
Luton Town boss Jack Wilshere has a vital summer transfer window ahead of him after failing to guide the Hatters to the League One play-offs.
Wilshere successfully led the Kenilworth Road club to an EFL Trophy final triumph last month, but couldn't steer them to an all-important top six spot in the third tier.
The Hatters finished their League One campaign with an impressive 11-game unbeaten run, but agonisingly finished one point and one place behind sixth-place Stevenage.
Luton were playing Premier League football as recently as 2024, and Wilshere is hoping to lead them back to the Championship next term, which will mark his first full season in charge.

The upcoming summer transfer window gives Wilshere his first major opportunity to build his own Luton squad, although he did make some deals in the winter window.
Wilshere completed the permanent acquisitions of striker Devante Cole and midfielder Sverre Sandal in the winter window, while the likes of Kasey Palmer and Emilio Lawrence joined on loan.
Palmer proved to be a particularly inspired signing for the Hatters, as he scored eight goals and registered one assist in 20 League One appearances.
The man on loan from Championship play-off finalists Hull City ended the season in great form, notching four goals and one assist in his last four outings.
In contrast to Palmer's impressive showings, fellow winter arrival Sandal hasn't been able to make his mark at Luton and has played just seven minutes of football since joining from Norwegian side KFUM.
The 22-year-old's worrying lack of game time shows that he has already fallen out of favour with Wilshere, who should already be keen to move him on this summer.
Meanwhile, according to Italian outlet Il Secolo XIX, Leeds United are keen on signing Sandal in a deal worth £1.7million.
Daniel Farke has enjoyed a successful season in charge of the Whites, leading them to both Premier League survival and the FA Cup semi-finals, while he is now keen on further strengthening his squad this summer.
However, the Norwegian's lack of game time at Kenilworth Road suggests that he would not be a great signing for Leeds, while Luton should be keen on recouping a handsome transfer fee for a player who is out of favour.
Wilshere must be amused by the Premier League outfit's interest in Sandal, who has played fewer than 10 minutes in League One this season.

Luton are eager to get back to the Championship as soon as possible, having endured back-to-back relegations from the Premier League to the third tier.
Having enjoyed stellar form in the closing weeks of the League One campaign, the Hatters will be eyeing an automatic promotion spot, despite missing out on the play-offs this term.
Wilshere's men will, of course, be competing alongside Leicester City, Sheffield Wednesday, and Oxford United for promotion next season, after the aforementioned trio were relegated from the Championship.
Meanwhile, the Hatters boss will be keen to utilise the summer transfer window to ready his squad for a top-two bid, while he must facilitate departures as well as arrivals.
With that in mind, Wilshere and Luton will surely jump at the chance to cash in on Leeds' bizarre and somewhat amusing interest in signing Sandal.
