Jackson Porozo made his World Cup debut on Sunday, coming on in the second half as Ecuador lost 1-0 to Ivory Coast in Group E.
According to Diario Do Peixe, Porozo joined Santos in 2018 in a deal later cited in impeachment requests against then president José Carlos Peres. The complaint said the club paid €350,000 to Manta and ceded 30 per cent of his economic rights to Hi Talent, which counted Ricardo Crivelli, known as Lica, appointed by Peres to oversee the academy, among its partners. The contract was rewritten after intervention by the Deliberative Council.
Despite representing Ecuador at under-20 and senior level, he never broke into Santos’ first team and left without a senior appearance. He was sold to Boa Vista of Portugal in 2020 for US$500,000, about R$ three million at the time.
After a standout year in Portugal, he moved to the City Group and was assigned to Troyes in France for three and a half million euros, around R$ 18 million at the current rate. Santos received 16 per cent of that deal, roughly R$ two point nine million at the time.
He later had spells with Olympiacos in Greece, Kasimpasa in Türkiye and Leganés in Spain, and since 2024 has played for Tijuana in Mexico.
