The departure of Jacob Ramsey from Aston Villa in the summer was not popular with the players at the Midlands club, according to the Telegraph.
The 24-year-old’s exit from the Villa Park club has created a sense of uncertainty in the dressing room, which is still being felt at the moment.
Ramsey joined Newcastle United in a £40 million deal, with Villa sacrificing one of their home-grown players to avoid breaching Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).
They were also open to cashing in on Morgan Rogers following interest from Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea.
However, none of them made an official offer after Villa made it clear they wanted at least £80 million for him.
Ollie Watkins, Emiliano Buendia, John McGinn and Emiliano Martinez were also linked with potential departures, but none of them left.
The Villans have started 2025-26 on a disappointing note, with no goals or victories after four Premier League games. They have also been eliminated from the League Cup.
They return to action on Sunday with a trip to the Stadium of Light to take on newly-promoted Sunderland, and manager Unai Emery will be desperate to pick up all three points.
Villa kick off their Europa League campaign at home against Bologna a week from today, and a victory would be a much-needed boost.
Emery has won the European competition four times, but he is unlikely to be confident of his chances with Villa following an underwhelming start to the season.
