Jaden Umeh named in Republic of Ireland squad for Qatar and Canada friendlies | OneFootball

Jaden Umeh, the 18-year-old Benfica forward, has been called up to the Republic of Ireland senior squad for friendlies against Qatar on 28 May and Canada on 5 June.

According to Glorioso 1904, he was also summoned earlier in May but withdrew to meet important commitments with Benfica’s juniors.

Benfica view Umeh as a priority for a new contract. Although he has a year left on his deal, the club want to move early to avoid a premature exit.

Signed from Cork City in 2025, he has excelled at Seixal. This season he has 14 goals and three assists in 22 matches for the under-19s, plus one goal and two assists in 13 games for the under-23s.

He has also featured for Benfica B and impressed in the UEFA Youth League, where he produced three goals and three assists. His progress is drawing attention at the club and internationally.
