There never seems to be a shortage of young talent at FC Barcelona. For years, the club has thrived thanks to said talent and has managed to achieve great things by relying on its youngsters. Even today, this Barcelona project is only possible due to the quality of the young players.

After all, many of this squad’s most prominent and important players just so happen to be youngsters. Lamine Yamal is a great example of this, and his performances for the team have also earned him the club’s prestigious number ‘10’ shirt as well.

However, not every player gets to have the same route to stardom. While some reach the first team early on in their careers, others have to find a way to that level through various loan stints or through other ways of impressing the coaching staff and improving their own level as a player.

For 19-year-old Barcelona youth winger Jan Virgili, a loan deal seems to be his best option to secure minutes in the top flight of Spanish football. Despite being in contention to travel with the Barcelona squad to Asia, he was ultimately left out of the final squad chosen by Hansi Flick.

Instead, it now seems likely that he could be on his way out of the club on a loan deal. Currently, he remains heavily linked to a move to La Liga side RCD Mallorca, and a recent development seems to only further push that potential move.

As highlighted by SPORT, Mallorca coach Jagoba Arrasate personally called Jan Virgili recently to explain the role he would have at Mallorca if he joined. By doing so, the coach is putting in effort to make sure that the signing can be secured.

He already did this before with Pablo Torre as well, and the Spanish midfielder is now at Mallorca. Now, with Virgili, he hopes that doing the same thing will lead the Barcelona youth winger to joining his team this summer.

After all, a dynamic profile like that on the wings is exactly what Mallorca are looking for. It is the kind of profile that the coaching staff and sporting sector of the club believes that they lack, and the Barcelona youth winger provides that in abundance.

Barcelona would only consider a loan deal

Barça, on the other hand, are adamant about staying in control of the player’s future. He remains one of La Masia’s most prominent talents right now, and they would only be willing to let him go on a loan deal.

In that context, there are some options on the table but Mallorca continues to lead the charge. Ultimately, even if he ends up leaving, the Catalan giants only want it to be a temporary move and they want to retain the player to continue developing him.
