Jair has reached eight months since his latest knee surgery at Vasco. According to Globo.com, the midfielder has resumed partial on-pitch sessions this month and his accelerated, consistent recovery has been welcomed by the club’s medical staff.
Team-mates marked his return after a second serious knee injury in under two years, this time a more severe multiligament problem. He suffered a partial tear of the anterior cruciate ligament and the medial collateral ligament, as well as meniscal damage.
Surgery rebuilt the anterior cruciate ligament and added an extra-articular reinforcement to stabilise the right knee and protect the graft. Post-operative recovery was judged a success by DESP, with no swelling and steady progress.
The club does not set timelines for comebacks in cases like this. The expectation is that he will resume full, unrestricted training after the World Cup pause.
Following the injury, Vasco renewed Jair’s contract until the end of 2026, with an option for one more year. His situation will be assessed in the second half of the year, with an imminent return to the pitch. Before the setback he was in one of his best spells for the club, and he has 76 appearances and six goals.
