Jamie Carragher believes Liam Rosenior is partly responsible for Filip Jorgensen’s error against PSG because of his “obsession” to play through the middle.

The Blues lost 5-2 against PSG on Wednesday evening, despite being level at 2-2 with just 15 minutes of the game left.

Chelsea’s implosion leaves them needing a miracle to overturn a three goal deficit in the second leg on Tuesday evening.

Jamie Carragher on Chelsea goalkeepers

Rosenior took the bold decision to start Jorgensen in goal, and ultimately it back fired with the Dane making a big error which led to Chelsea going 3-2 down.

Jorgensen was clearly upset after the game and didn’t want to go and applaud the travelling fans, but Rosenior defended his performance.

Rosenior has once again insisted he hasn’t told either Jorgensen or Robert Sanchez they are number one, and Carragher has accused the Englishman of having an “obsession” which is hurting the Blues.

“So when you play centrally, as Chelsea and Rosenior like to do, and the opposition know that you like to do, look, they’re high out of the box, he [Jorgensen] plays a really good pass,” he told CBS Sports.

“But then, they go forward, a great attack, so he was part of a lot of good play from Chelsea throughout a lot of the game.

“And that’s what he wants from his goalkeepers. But you’ve got to remember, the two passes and the good passes were central, but they were on his right foot.

“He’s now in a situation where, don’t forget it’s 2-2, he can go left, he can go right. But no, there’s an obsession with going through the centre.”

Liam Rosenior’s tactical obsession

Carragher believes the obsession of playing centrally is hurting the Blues, and blames that for Jorgensen’s mistake.

“So, he is on his left foot. He’s not on his right foot, so he’s going to be weaker on that pass,” he added.

“He can’t push it in as hard. So, is he trying to play into central midfield? Or is he waiting for Cole Palmer there? It’s just so narrow to try to get it between players, and it’s a huge mistake.”
