Jamie Carragher said that he is worried about Liverpool following Sunday’s disappointing 2-1 loss to Manchester United.

The Reds entered the Anfield clash as favourites, but they were stunned by Bryan Mbeumo who scored the opener inside two minutes.

Liverpool looked to have salvaged a draw when Cody Gakpo netted a late equaliser after hitting the woodwork three times.

But Harry Maguire popped up with the winner by heading Bruno Fernandes’ cross into the bottom-left corner.

Expressing his views on Sky Sports, Carragher said he is worried about the Merseyside giants’ current form.

He said: “Liverpool are still conceding goals and big chances.

“I don’t think there is one glaring problem, it’s lots of things.

“The new signings are not up to speed but also some of Liverpool’s great players from last season are nowhere near the level they were.

“They are making errors. It’s not quite happening for Liverpool. I am worried for Liverpool, not just because of the results but the performances as well.”

The result leaves Liverpool fourth in the Premier League standings, with four points behind Arsenal and one behind Manchester City.

The Reds spent heavily in the summer transfer window to sign Alexander Isak, Hugo Ektike, Florian Wirtz, Milos Kerkez and Jeremie Frimpong.

Their record-breaking summer had sparked big hopes for the new campaign, but the team’s performances have been disappointing so far.

They ground out results in early matches despite producing unconvincing displays, but they are now on a four-game losing streak.

Their defence is weak, as they have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last four top-flight games.

Key forward Mohamed Salah looks to be a shadow of his former self, while Isak is yet to find his feet at Anfield following his £125 million summer move.

Slot must sort out these issues quickly if he wants Liverpool to compete for the league title this season.
