FC Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen and Unterhaching's president Manfred Schwabl held up intertwined scarves from both clubs, FCB director of women's football Bianca Rech stood alongside Allianz Arena managing director Jürgen Muth holding gifts from the municipality, and the mayor, Wolfgang Panzer, held a ball signed by the women's team as a symbol of FC Bayern's future footballing home, just a few minutes' drive from Säbener Straße.
The announcement that the stadium in Unterhaching and the approximately 45,000 square metre complex will be operated by FC Bayern via its Allianz Arena GmbH from 1 January was rounded off with a Bavarian Weißwurst breakfast. "Today is a good day for everyone involved and a historic day," said Dreesen. "Unterhaching is the ideal option for our women's and girls' football – we've found a solution that suits everyone."

After the necessary infrastructure adjustments, the Sportpark will be home to all FC Bayern Women's matches and training sessions, and from the 2026/2027 season onwards, it will also host the home matches in the Women's Champions League. "We're very proud to have found a new home here," said Rech, and Muth gave an initial insight into the next steps for what will be the fourth property operated by Allianz Arena München Stadion GmbH after the Allianz Arena, the FC Bayern Campus and BMW Park: "First, we'll take stock of the situation, with priority given to the UEFA requirements for the Women's Champions League." Dreesen was very clear: "We believe in women's football, otherwise we wouldn't be taking this step." Following the founding of the Women's Bundesliga e.V., the aim is to send a signal to German football.
The SpVgg Unterhaching first team will continue to play their home games at the Sportpark stadium, as before. The Regionalliga side will also continue as tenants at the venue. With a wink, Manfred Schwabl recalled the Haching neighbourhood assistance given on the last matchday in 2000, when SpVgg's victory over Leverkusen gave the men from Munich a helping hand on their way to winning the title. "That's when FC Bayern's economic boom began here," said the former FCB player with a chuckle, thanking Dreesen and the municipality and adding: "We're focusing on youth football."

Panzer said that FC Bayern moving in would provide "an investment turbo for our community – what could be better than finding a football investor? We expect women's football to be a real success story. I know the whole of Unterhaching – especially grassroots sport – will benefit from these developments and this momentum. That’s another reason why we in the municipal council unanimously voted to entrust our Sportpark to FC Bayern. It’s in good hands there!"
The stadium at Sportpark Unterhaching has a capacity of 15,000 spectators, of which more than 8,000 are seated. In addition to the stadium, the entire complex includes three training pitches and a clubhouse with a restaurant and beer garden. There are also two further plots of land to the north of the Sportpark with potential for further development. "This is a long-term investment in the future," explained Dreesen, who made it clear that there are no plans to relocate the reserves (‘Grünwalder is the home of our U23s’). Schwabl wished Bianca Rech luck for the crucial Champions League match in the evening – a true example of neighbourly cooperation: "We've never been treated as a minor partner and look forward to a future together."
