Jardim admits Jorginho dip at Flamengo but offers vote of confidence | OneFootball

Leonardo Jardim acknowledged Jorginho is going through a poor run after Flamengo's recent draws, yet backed the midfielder and underlined his importance.

According to Globo.com, Jorginho has started the past three matches since the World Cup pause, setting up Léo Pereira against São Paulo but falling below expected levels.

Jardim said better solutions will come, stressing they know Jorginho's value, while noting others could step in when a player is below par, options he does not currently have.

He lamented the absence of Lucas Paquetá and explained that Nico De la Cruz, who was not previously available, was given a few minutes and can cover in midfield. He added that when all are fit, rotation could be possible.

Flamengo host Vitória at the Maracanã on 9 August at 19:30 Brasília time in the 22nd round of the Campeonato Brasileiro. They sit second, 8 points behind leaders Palmeiras, and will look to close the gap.
