Manchester United Women’s team are continuing their productive January by tying down one their most promising young stars to a long-term contract.

As reported by the club’s official website, Jayde Riviere has put pen-to-paper on a new deal that will keep her at United until June 2028 with the option of another year.

The defender has made 32 appearances for United since joining the club in 2023, and she has been capped 47 times for Canada at the age of just 23.

Her impressive performances under the guidance of Marc Skinner have led to the full-back earning a deserved new contract that will see her continue her development in Manchester.

The Canadian is delighted with the agreement and spoke to the club upon the announcement.

“I feel the honour of being a Manchester United player every time I step on the pitch, so I’m thrilled that this journey is going to continue.

“Winning the FA Cup last season gave us all a taste of success and I’ll continue to give everything I have to achieve more moments like that for our fans,” she said.

United’s interim head of women’s football, Matt Johnson commented on the deal and said he is expecting big things from the young player.

“Jayde is a talented young player who is ambitious and determined with the potential to be world class.

“She has already achieved a lot at a relatively young age, but we know there is more to come, and we are delighted that she will continue her development at Manchester United,” he said.

This news comes after the signing of young Southampton goalkeeper Kayla Rendell, who joins Skinner’s side as they push for a strong second half of the campaign.

United are currently in a battle for Champions League places, sat in fourth place but just a point behind Manchester City in second with runaway league leaders Chelsea seven points clear at the top of the Super League table.
