West Ham United defender Jean-Clair Todibo had a heated exchange with Nuno Espirito Santo after the Newcastle United defeat and informed him he would not play for him again, according to The Athletic.
The 26-year-old Frenchman was taken off in the 25th minute of the 3-1 defeat, and he took issue with the substitution, complaining to West Ham goalkeeping coach Rui Barbosa.
Todibo was not named in the Hammers’ matchday squad for the game against Leeds United at the London Stadium today, and wants a summer exit.
He will not be the only West Ham player looking to move on following the club’s relegation to the Championship.
Winter transfer window signing Pablo Felipe is also expected to move on after failing to score in 17 games across all competitions.
The 22-year-old striker was West Ham’s first January arrival, joining them in a €20 million deal from the Portuguese club Gil Vicente.
The medical team advised Nuno not to sign him because he had a hamstring injury. He ignored their advice, and it has proven costly as he only weighed in with one assist.
West Ham secured a 3-0 victory over Leeds, but it was not enough to keep them up after Tottenham Hotspur won 1-0 against Everton.
They finished 18th in the table, two points off the safety zone and will be playing in the Championship for the first time since 2011.
Four or five first-choice players will have to be sold as the club needs to raise £150 million in player sales this summer.
Crysencio Summerville, Konstantinos Mavropanos and Mateus Fernandes are expected to leave, and a major squad overhaul is on the cards.
