Jean-Claude Blanc has reaffirmed INEOS’ commitment to OGC Nice, on the back of the recent events, both on and off the pitch, that have embroiled Les Aiglons into a full-blown crisis. On the back of Nice’s sixth defeat on the bounce against promoted Ligue 1 side FC Lorient on Sunday, around 400 Nice fans gathered outside the club’s training centre later that day.
Several players, as well as Sporting Director Florian Maurice have been directly subjected to verbal and physical abuse. Strikers Jérémie Boga and Terem Moffi have been hit and put on sick leave. These acts of violence have been strongly condemned by INEOS Sport CEO Jean-Claude Blanc, who wishes to offer INEOS’ full support to those affected.
“I reaffirm INEOS’ strong commitment to the club, support the OGC Nice President and renew my confidence in all the club’s sports and administrative services and teams”, reads Blanc’s statement. The INEOS Sport executive calls for all communications from the club’s speakers to “be guided by the best interests of OGC Nice, consistently ensuring the unity and cohesion of all the club’s stakeholders.”
This particular bit in the statement can be interpreted as a dig to head coach Franck Haise, who openly critisiced INEOS’ lack of response in the aftermath of Sunday’s events.
